Dear Mr. Wehrli

I apologize that I have been remiss in thanking you for meeting with us last week.   Between the holiday and assisting a relative in some matters it has been a very hectic time.   We hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.

In addition to some very concerned citizens of Hobson West and the surrounding immediate sub-divisions, there were representatives from the Mayneland Farms area, the TOD study area and the 75th Street 120 apartment project (PC # 1627).   These issues cover a large area of Naperville with thousands of voters and where the question of rezoning of small lots will probably be more frequent in the future years.   We are all interested in retaining current zoning in our neighborhoods.

We thank you for visiting with the very concerned citizens of Hobson West.   We appreciate your making a list of some of our key points to review.   We sincerely hope that you come to the conclusion that the petitioner has not presented COMPELLING and OVERWHELMING evidence to justify a change in the zoning from R1A - single family houses   to R3A - Multifamily Townhouses.

One of the points discussed is the 80 foot long end of the buildings which will be 15 feet from the property line (essentially a foot from the sidewalk edge) on West Street and Plainfield/Naperville Rd.   The picture below is one of the end of a building in Crestview's very first Townhouse Development called Ashwood Park (Ponds of Hobson West would be Crestview's second Townhouse Development).

Additional discussion was about the serious storm water problems some of our neighbors in Hobson West and in the townhouses of The Fields.   During the various Planning Commission and City Council we have continually complained that the flooding problem near the north Pond has not been resolved.

Last Thursday night / Friday morning it rained heavily at times but far from a 100, 50, 25, or even a 10 year rain storm and yet the flooding was a problem.   Cindy Schneider was out running errands and saw quite a bit of flooding.   She went home and got a camera and took a few pictures.   I have include a couple of them below.  The pictures were taken at about 9:30 - 10:00 AM  after the rain had stopped.

The one picture with the blue hose was from a house which earlier had been pumping water out constantly.   The others show the standing water on the property, this hours after the rain stopped.

We wish you a Happy New Year.

Doug Dallmer
